Targeted Clinical Cancer Trials

Where can I find information about clinical trials of targeted therapies?

What is Clinical Research?

  • What is Clinical Research?

    • Clinical Research is a mechanism through which we can find new modalities of treatment where the standard of care has exhausted the current ways to treat these types of cancers.
  • When are Clinical Trials Recommended for patients?

    • Clinical trials are mostly recommended to patients after the standard-of-care options have been exhausted.
    • Our center for clinical trials is obligated to access standard-of-care treatment options for our patients before recommending clinical trials.
    • When a patient does not have any treatment options available on the market, clinical trials are the only option as new medicine is only available through clinical research.
  • Are Clinical Trials Safe?

    • All our clinical trials that are open to enrollment have been conducted on humans and have safety data available.
    • The conduct of clinical trials is well organized, scrutinized, and secured by a team of clinical providers who assess and closely monitor the participants prior to study enrollment and throughout the study, and follow up with participants after their participation to ensure their safety.
  • Why Participate in Clinical Trials?

    • Through clinical trials, you will have access to medical treatments that have not been provided to the general population.
    • Clinical trials can give study participants an opportunity to use medicine that they would otherwise not have access to prior to its approval. This opportunity could be the solution for your condition when nothing else is working.
  • Do I Have to Pay to Participate and Does My Insurance Cover the Expenses?

    • Study participants receive study-related care at no cost.
    • Insurance is not required.
    • You will be compensated for your time, travel, and study-related expenses.
    • Transportation can be arranged at no cost to you if needed.
  • What if I Change My Mind After Enrolling?

    • Should you choose to discontinue your participation in the study, you are free to opt out at any time, for any reason without penalties.
  • Can I Continue Taking the Study Treatment After the Trial Ends?

    • Some clinical trials allow study participants to continue the same medication at no cost to them after the study ends as long as they are receiving clinical benefits from the study medicine.
  • What Types of Cancers and Blood Disorders are Covered by Clinical Trials?

    • Our Cancer Institute provides clinical trials for different types of tumors including lung cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, liver cancer, lymphoma, central nervous system tumors, acute and chronic leukemia, bone marrow disorders, and uncommon hard-to-treat anemias.
